The Syd Barrett penned Jugband Blues is as psychedelic as a song can get – a call-back to the whimsical psychedelia of the unexpected success that was the Pink Floyd debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1968). Roger was one who was always was in awe of the emerging progressive rock scene of the late 60’s, and hence one can see a clear dichotomy in the kind of songs in A Saucerful of Secrets. As Syd Barrett’s insanity grew beyond acceptable bounds by rock music standards, Roger Waters had to take command of the ship. The 1968 album A Saucerful of Secrets is an oddball as far as Pink Floyd albums go.
